Carers Service

Carer Assessment Workers provide support and information to carers of older people and Adults with mental health problems.  These workers link with staff throughout the Somerset Partnership, Somerset County Council and Somerset PCT, including Carer Support Workers employed by the County Council, who are based in GP practices.  In addition there are a number of other services provided by Somerset Partnership, which include a counselling service (provided jointly with Somerset County Council), carer support groups, a countywide carers participation group, carers education courses, a website, an information pack, and a regular newsletter.  In addition nationally recognised training is provided to ward and community staff.

Carers Assessment Workers (CAW)

The role of the Carers’ Assessment Worker is to undertake the Needs Assessment of the

RCPA for Carers, providing information and advice to carers whilst working with Care Coordinators to ensure the delivery of services and support to the carer. Carers can contact

them directly.  Support available for carers includes information, courses, free carers’ counselling, support groups, carers’ breaks, and more. The Carers’ Assessment Workers have full details.
