David Allen, a resident of Bridgwater, Somerset, has joined the Board of Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as a non-Executive Director having previously been an elected governor of the Trust representing the people of West Somerset.
David has been appointed for a three year term, starting 1 May 2016, running until 30 April 2019.
In the six years before his appointment as a Non-Executive Director, David undertook a number of managerial roles within the NHS and has solid experience in acute, mental health and community services, specialising in risk, governance and compliance.
Prior to his work in the NHS, David was a director and Company Secretary at a leading insurance company, with overall responsibility for Information Technology, Human Resources, Facilities, Compliance and Governance.
Somerset Partnership Chairman, Stephen Ladyman, welcomed David to the Board and said:
“David has a wealth of experience both within the NHS and the private sector and, in his time as a Trust governor has built up a broad understanding of the Trust and our services, and a strong working relationship with the rest of the Board. I am sure his extensive experience will be of great benefit to the Trust and the challenging times we have in front of us. I am delighted to welcome him on to the Trust Board.”
David welcomed his appointment and said:

David is a Chartered Engineer, holds a BSc (Hons) in Engineering Science and is a Member of the British Computing Society.
