Employees of the Month - January 2017

Date: 01 February 2017

Every month we celebrate a team or individual staff member who has gone above and beyond their role to deliver great patient care, better patient or carer experience or who have truly demonstrated the Trust’s values in their work in whatever role they have – front-line, back office or support staff.

This month’s we have two Employees of the Month and they are Vanessa Kelly, Administration Assistant at the Chief Executive’s Office and Sid Lawrence, Finance Accountant, both based at Mallard Court.

Vanessa was nominated by Ria Zandvliet, Secretary to the Trust who said:

“Vanessa administered the Staff Recognition Award process this year. Whilst in the past this job was carried out by two people, Vanessa managed the administration of this year’s nomination process on her own in spite of a large increase in the number of nominations received. This involved a significant amount of work.

“A total of 163 nominations were received of which a large number lacked the full details or award category requiring Vanessa to email or phone the nominators to obtain all details. This was a very labour intensive process. Vanessa also acknowledged receipt of the nominations, sent invitation letters and dealt with all enquiries.

“All this work was undertaken whilst Vanessa had to manage her normal workload, working on a part time basis and without any direct supervision.

“It cannot be emphasised enough how much work this involved but still achieving a very high standard and excellent quality of work. Vanessa’s administration skills and her commitment and conscientiousness are second to none.

“I feel that Vanessa should be recognised for her work as she undoubtedly went well above and beyond her role as an administration assistant.”

Sid was nominated by Norma Coombes, Senior Hospital Matron who said:

“Sid has given me no end of support over the year especially within my role of covering four community hospitals.

“He is always extremely helpful, happy to support you and never judgemental, even when I ask something ‘simple’. He always sorts things in a polite and thoughtful manner. We could do with more staff like Sid. He makes my job so much easier”.
