West Mendip Community Hospital has a new Matron!
Jessica Dolman-Sellars has joined Somerset Partnership from London, with 17 years of nursing experience, to take up her first post as Matron.
Jessica’s nursing career has taken her round most of the South of England. She trained at the Royal United Hospital in Bath and held her first post there as a Theatre Recovery Nurse.
From there she moved into community care as a Community Staff Nurse in Royal Wotton Bassett, Wiltshire. After five years in community nursing, Jessica returned to Bath where she worked with patients and a range of staff on managing patient discharges into the community. After this she managed community rehabilitation services and also headed up a stroke rehabilitation ward for Wiltshire Community Health Services.
Welcoming her move to West Mendip Community Hospital, Jessica said:
“I am particularly proud of the teams here at West Mendip and for the high levels of care that are provided on our inpatient wards, in our outpatient services, our minor injury department and by our therapy teams. Our site support staff are also brilliant – they keep us fed, watered, safe, clean and organised.
“I hold one standard up to each service that I work with or visit: would I want a member of my family cared for by this team? In West Mendip Community Hospital, I can gladly say that I would want this service for my loved ones.”
Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Chief Executive, Edward Colgan, welcomed Jessica to her new post and said:
“Jessica’s appointment is great news for the patients and staff of West Mendip Community Hospital. Jessica has a solid range of experience from both the acute hospital and community services sectors and she is dedicated to the very highest principles of nursing.
“She is already supporting her staff in delivering the very best and compassionate patient care and is a great choice as Matron for the staff and patients in West Mendip.”
Jessica is married and her husband has just come to the end of a 30 year career with the Corps of Army Music in the British Army. They live just outside of Somerset, in Warminster.
