Severe Weather – a message to our patients, their families and carers

Date: 28 February 2018

The severe weather warning for Somerset is still in place and our focus is on the health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff.

As a consequence, we have taken the decision to cancel all booked appointments and clinics for Somerset Partnership services today, Friday 2 March.

Affected patients are being contacted. If you do not hear from us before your booked appointment time, please call the service to check arrangements.

Those patients who receive services such as district nursing or community mental health in their own home are being contacted separately. We continue to review our patient lists to identify any patients who may need some alternative form of contact or advice instead of their clinic appointment.

We are planning to open all our minor injury units as usual but due to difficulties in the local areas, Chard MIU will open slightly later at 9.15am and Burnham on Sea MIU will be opening at 10am,

Tips for keeping well during the bad weather

With more cold and snow on the way, please take time to think what you need to stock up on. Do you need food or essential supplies such as medicines?

Also, remember that we are not all used to temperatures like this so keep homes heated to at least 18 degrees. If you’re able to clear paths of snow or ice, do so. Everyone should keep up to date with weather forecasts so you’re not caught out.

And remember, staying well in conditions like this can be a challenge for people, so if you can check on someone whose health may be at risk, please do.
