Travel in Taunton during Cricket World Cup matches

Date: 06 June 2019

With the Cricket World Cup touching down in Taunton this weekend we have been informed by Somerset County Council that temporary traffic restrictions will be in place over the next couple of weeks. This may affect the way patients and staff get to Musgrove Park Hospital, as well as Somerset Partnership services at Parkgate House on East Reach and the Somerset Wide Integrated Sexual Health Clinic (SWISH) on Castle Street.

We have been advised by the council that the park and ride service to the Gateway park and ride site has been temporarily suspended (as of 4pm on Friday 7 June) while action is taken to move a group travellers from the site. The service will be resumed as soon as possible. Follow the council's @Travelsomerset twitter feed for more details. The Silk Mills Park & Ride service remains open as usual.

  • Make sure you never burn
  • Where possible, try to spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm when the sun it at its strongest
  • If you're planning to drink alcohol, have a glass of water before and alternate alcoholic drinks with water or soft drinks
  • Never drink or drive!
  • If you have a trip, fall, minor injury or illness, try one of the seven minor injuries units in Somerset - click here (the nearest units to the ground are at Bridgwater Hospital or Chard Hospital). Or call NHS 111.
  • Use the local hospital emergency department (A&E) only in an emergency.
