Dr Nick Broughton, Chief Executive of Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is to leave the Trust to take up the post of Chief Executive of Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

“I am disappointed to be losing Nick, who has done an excellent job since he joined us. He has led the significant improvements we have made in the quality of our care, recognised most recently by the Care Quality Commission in their report of our re-inspection, and helped keep the Trust in financial balance. He has played an important part in developing Somerset’s Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) and in fostering our collaboration with Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.

“On behalf of the Trust Board, I would like offer him our very best wishes for the future.”

Dr Broughton commented on his decision and said:

“It has been a difficult decision to leave Somerset Partnership; I have greatly enjoyed my time at the trust. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved together as an organisation and I am confident that with the support of the trust’s fantastic staff and their undoubted dedication to provide excellent patient-centred care, Somerset Partnership will continue to prosper. I am confident further that the trust’s mental health, community health and learning disability services will form an increasingly important part of Somerset’s health and social care services during the years ahead.”
