Williton Community Hospital throws open doors in nurse recruitment drive

Date: 12 November 2015

The Matron at Williton Community Hospital has resorted to unusual measures in her bid to fill a number of vacant posts.

Matron Norma Coombes, who runs both West Somerset’s community hospitals, has a number of posts for full-time and part-time registered nurses at Minehead and Williton Community Hospitals which she has been unable to fill.

Norma commented:

“West Somerset offers so much, I know that both Minehead and Williton are set amongst the most breath taking countryside and coastline, and are the sort of places where local people really do care about their community and offer lots of activities and groups to welcome newcomers.

“We are really keen to recruit nurses passionate about delivering high quality care. At Minehead and Williton Community Hospitals, we provide the sort of nursing that our communities are proud of - and we really do invest in our nurses.

“To encourage nurses to consider us I am inviting interested nurses into Williton Community Hospital to come and see the working environment for themselves, visits to Minehead Community Hospital can also be arranged. We have re-furbished wards providing a convivial, home-from-home atmosphere where a highly trained team of nurses, therapists and local GP’s are all dedicated to supporting patients during their hospital stay.

“We are a good local employer offering good rates of pay with weekend and night time enhancements, a generous holiday entitlement, pension scheme and help with personal development. We really value all of our staff."

Date of Williton's Open Day – Thursday 19 November 2015 between 10.00 to 18.00
