Our staff

We are committed to ensuring that staff working for the Integrated Therapy Service for Children and Young People provide a safe and high quality service.

When your child is receiving support from an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist from our service you can be assured of the following in relation to their qualifications, training and supervision.

  • All qualified staff are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) to show that they have passed the relevant qualifications to practice their profession and have evidence that they continually update their knowledge and skills

  • Somerset Partnership NHS Trust meets all statutory requirements in relation to Disclosure and Barring Service checks for our staff including an enhanced check for our clinical staff

  • Safeguarding children is considered at all stages of the recruitment process using ‘Safer Recruitment’ practice and procedures when selecting staff to work in our service

  • All clinical members of staff including both therapists and therapy support practitioners have level 3 safeguarding children training which is updated annually

  • All staff have regular clinical supervision to ensure their practice is up to date and in line with best practice guidelines and also have access to specific safeguarding supervision from the Trust Safeguarding Nurses

  • Staff have access to a range of clinical specialists within our service and those in regional and national centres who they can seek advice from if a condition falls outside their own knowledge and skills
