Referrals

Referrals to the Single Point of Access (SPA) for CAMHS can be made by a wide range of agencies and professionals. The service welcome referrals by letter, use of the CAMHS referral form or by telephone. At present the SPA is unable to accept self-referrals but this is something we are working on and we hope will be available in the future. Children, young people or their families can self-refer if they have been discharged from CAMHS and have been given an “Orange Card” as part of their discharge care plan, which encourages the child or young person to contact the relevant CAMHS team directly if their mental health should deteriorate.

You can download the  Eligibility Criteria for Somerset Specialist CAMHS as well as the referral form referral form.  Please complete this form for all referrals to specialist CAMHS. If you require an emergency response (within 24 hours) please telephone the SPA where a trained Clinican will take a verbal referral to avoid any unnecessary delay.  We have provided additional guidance on “ what makes a good CAMHS referral" to support you in this process.
