Chard Community Hospital is currently closed for inpatients but all other parts of the hospital is open as usual. There is a team of doctors, nurses and therapists who support patients during their hospital stay and who deliver personalised care in line with an agreed care plan.
The hospital has a nurse led Minor Injuries Unit. For more information about opening times please visit our Minor Injuries Unit webpage.
The hospital has one ward, Swinbanks Ward. The Trust complies with the Government's requirement to eliminate mixed-sex accommodation. While it is possible that there may be both men and women patients on the ward, they will not share the sleeping area. The League of Friends
The League of Friends of Chard Hospital has a committee which meet at the hospital on a bi-monthly basis. The committee, through their fund raising, provide the hospital with valuable resources and equipment. For further information please contact the Chairperson, Nora Arnold on 01297 678288.
Chard Hospital is clearly signposted on the A30 Crewkerne Road. The bus stop is situated in Avishayes Road outside the Fire Station. The one way system enters on Crewkerne Road and exits on Avishayes Road. Visitor parking spaces are provided and are free of charge.
Travelling from Ilminster on the A358, turn left into Victoria Avenue after the DIY store, turn first left at the next roundabout into Crewkerne Road, signposted Yeovil and Crewkerne A30. After the Tyre Business, the red hospital sign will be on your right, turn left into the hospital entrance.
Travelling from Crewkerne on the A30, on entering the 30 mile an hour zone take the fourth turning on the right. The red hospital sign will be on your left.
Travelling from Axminster on the A358. After passing St Marys Church on your left, follow the road turning left at the mini roundabout, keep in the right hand lane to turn right into East Street at the traffic lights towards Crewkerne on the A30. At the roundabout take the second exit signposted Yeovil and Crewkerne. After the tyre business, the red hospital sign will be on your right, turn left into the hospital entrance.
The hospital is located within a 10-15 minute walk of Chard town centre. The most direct route utilises East Street and then Crewkerne Road from the supermarket roundabout. Turn left into the drive just after the tyre business.
Taxis from the hospital will pick you up from the front of the building.
