Crewkerne Community Hospital has 20 inpatient beds. There is a team of doctors, nurses and therapists who support patients during their hospital stay and who deliver personalised care in line with an agreed care plan.

The hospital has one ward, Crewkerne Ward. The Trust complies with the Government’s requirement to eliminate mixed-sex accommodation. While it is possible that there may be both men and women patients on the ward, they will not share the sleeping area. For more information about same sex accommodation in our hospitals please visit our webpage.

You can find more useful information for patients and visitors by downloading our booklet, Welcome to Crewkerne Hospital.

The League of Friends

The League of Friends of Crewkerne Hospital was formed in 1948 shortly after the Hospital was handed over to the Ministry of Health. The League was formed to provide “the many and varied needs of the hospital and patients which the National Health Service could not provide."

The Constitution of the League was updated in 1991 when provision was included in the Charity’s Objects for help to also be provided to former patients and other invalids in the community. In recent years this provision has been put to greater use and with the change of focus within the NHS towards care in the community we see that this use will continue to grow.

They have a small Committee that meets on a quarterly basis. We also have a small Finance Sub-Committee which can authorise expenditure of up to £3,000 between meetings and a Fundraising Sub-Committee which organises the annual fete, flag day and other fundraising activities.
