Minor Injury Units

The minor injuries service runs across the county in many of your local community hospitals. If you have an injury and want excellent local care with short waiting times please attend!

We have Minor Injury Units (MIU) at Frome, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Chard, Bridgwater, Minehead and Burnham on Sea. They are all run by Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs) – nurses with extra training in emergency care - with staff nurses and health care assistants in support.

Our team of emergency nurse practitioners see, assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of non-life threatening minor illnesses and injuries. Common examples include:

  • Chest infections
  • Throat infections
  • Eye infections
  • Urinary infections
  • Emergency contraception
  • Sprains and strains
  • Broken bones
  • Wounds
  • Bites

For 24/7 telephone advice telephone NHS 111 and for emergencies, call 999.
